Michelle came home today. She spent a week in hospital therapy and is doing well. The therapists told me she walked 50 feet yesterday with a high walker. This is something she hasn’t done in a long time. The surgery was extremely intricate and difficult and we are all very grateful to the staff at NY Presbyterian Hospital. And then there’s Michelle. She is one tough cookie. Not one pain pill the entire time she was there and of course everyone fell in love with her.

Michelle is Being Honored

This Friday, April 26th, Michelle is being honored at a Gala Dinner for her high school’s 85th anniversary, as a woman of faith. Who else do you know who could undergo ten brain surgeries, be unconscious close to eight months, be tube-fed for two and a half years, undergo four to five hours of therapy every day yet wake up every morning thanking God that she is alive? She is truly an inspiration.
Happy Birthday Michelle.

Happy 36th birthday to my darling daughter. It’s now been almost 15 years since she was hit by a car and we are so thankful every day to still have her with us. She works so hard every day in her therapies and always brings a smile to everyone who comes into contact with her. What a treasure!

This might help you to understand a little better some of the changes that occur with brain injury both for the individual and the family.
