Marilyn Martone is a recently retired associate professor of moral theology at St. John’s University in Jamaica, NY. She has taught health-care ethics for many years on both graduate and undergraduate levels as well as courses in fundamental moral theology, feminist ethics, gender and social justice, sexuality, and business ethics. For seven years she has represented the Holy See at the United Nations on women’s issues. She has also served on various hospital ethics committees. In 2002 she was the recipient of an NEH grant on “Justice, Equality and the Challenge of Disability.” In 2007 she was one of two recipients of a fellowship on disability ethics at Weill-Cornell Medical College and the Hospital for Special Surgery.
